Another attempt with current Saucony Triumph ISO 5 from the american brand to gain some market share in competitive and profitable segment of running shoes plenty of cushioning and latest technologies with premium materials (aka very expensive) clearly leaded by Asics Gel Nimbus 20 after several editions without exciting sales figures. There is (finally) a general agreement about the great integration of the ISOFIT™ system together with rest of upper and together with new top Jacquard mesh and more EVERUN™ foam added in the midsole to increase plush cushioning make it worth to give Triumph ISO 5 a try.
There are several changes from its predecessor Triumph ISO 4 and a result of them weight has increased around 5%. As mentioned above, new high quality Jacquard mesh not only features several ventilation holes to improve breathability but also is very well integrated with ISOFIT™ system for dynamic and secure fit in a similar way Saucony did with its smaller sibling Ride ISO. Fortunately old days when external and intrusive cage was the proposed solution are left far behind. To increase visibility under poor light conditions multiple reflective elements are present on the heel.
Besides improvements on upper, major goal in Triumph ISO 5 is a softer and more cushioned transition so EVERUN™ unit is 2 mm thicker and there is a much better interaction between contoured footbed and premium insole in what Saucony names FORMFIT™ system. Ousole has been upgraded to eye-candy "Crystal Rubber" used in fantastic Freedom ISO 2 including reinforcements in both rear area and middle of forefoot to repectively increase durability and improve grip. TRI-FLEX™ configuration also evolves and reminds successful StretchWeb™ design from Adidas.
