The highly expected Asics Gel Nimbus 23 arrives on time to its typical annual renovation and it looks well. The truth is that it makes a great team with its sibling with pronation support Gel Kayano 27 and the couple is undoubtedly the reference in high-end (and high price) running shoes in the market. The Japanese brand has released with this Nimbus 23 a running shoe with a softer touch without trying too much the dynamics of previous models, in fact it is maintained both the drop and the weight. Unfortunately the retail price does not, it always goes up.
What most calls attention regarding your predecessor Gel Nimbus 22 is a renovated design, very modern and attractive, possibly to compensate for the image of "tank". A more in detail reveals the non-alignment of the eyelets, a detail studied surely for better hold through the tension of the cords. The upper cut is composed of a very clean layer mesh, with a pair of plastic parts on the back and thermofused Asics logo that plays with different densities of the outer layer to better adapt to each area. Either way, it is perceived an extra quality with respect to its smaller sibling Gel Cumulus 22, something that also reflects the sale price.
The media of the Asics Gel Nimbus 23 presents a pair of aspects above the rest: a rear piece of greatest Gel® and multitude of microperforations. The first allows greater journey comfort and the second makes the Flytefoam foam from the midsole can be better adapted to the compression of the different zones according to the pressure in each tread. The sole also suffers a small revolution with a renewed piece of plastic (the famous Trusstic™ but less intrusive, which always enjoys more protagonism in pronation control shoes such as the GT 2000 9) in the middle for greater stability and talado redesign that evolves a wavy configuration to favor a smooth transition.
